That brown stain on your ceiling is almost never directly under the hole. Water travels along rafters and decking before it drips — sometimes ten feet from where it got in. In Dearborn, freeze-thaw cycles widen tiny entry points every winter, so small leaks rarely stay small. We trace every leak from the attic underside to the roof surface, photograph the actual failure, and repair the cause — not just the symptom.

We start inside, not on the roof. The attic tells the story: water trails on rafters, damp insulation, rusted nail heads, and daylight where it shouldn't be. We map the trail upward to the roof plane, then verify from the surface — checking flashing lines, valleys, vents, and shingle courses above the interior stain.
Where the path isn't obvious, we water-test: controlled water applied section by section while a second tech watches from the attic. It's methodical, and it's why our leak repairs don't come back next spring.
Once the entry point is confirmed, we remove the failed material — not just caulk over it. Damaged shingles come out, the underlayment and decking underneath get inspected, and the repair is rebuilt to shed water the way the roof was designed to: woven shingles, re-seated or rebuilt flashing, sealed penetrations.
Then we test it. Water goes on the repaired area before we pack up, and you get before-and-after photos of the exact spot.
Most leaks are repairable — one failed flashing, a cracked boot, a wind-lifted course. But when we find saturated decking across multiple areas, widespread granule loss, or leaks returning in new spots every season, the honest call is replacement. We show you the photos and explain the math either way; if a repair will genuinely hold, we'll say so.
We follow the water's actual path instead of guessing at the stain.
Every leak repair gets tested with water before we leave.
